Captain Jerome has been sailing on his own for 28 years and teaching sailing for 10 years. One year he taught at Courageous Sailing Center in Charleston MA, 3 years at the prestigious Boston Sailing Center and 7 years on the Hudson River with Tivoli Sailing Company.
Our curriculum uses the book "Sailing the Basics" written by David Frenzel, founder of Boston Sailing Center.
Each student will receive a copy of the book as part of their lesson fee.
Sailing on the Hudson is extremely difficult and learning to sail on it is even harder. The rapidly changing and variable conditions of tide, wind and current challenge even the best sailors. If you learn how to sail on the Hudson River, you can sail anywhere!
For the majority of students who don't have their own boats on which to practice, the club package is your best option. The goal of this program is mileage, and a relaxed and constant learning progression. Finesse, sensitivity, and experience are the focal points of the club package.
Classes are Mondays from 5:30 till 8:30 (Wednesdays rain date), plus Saturday 9:30 to noon every week for the entire season till the end of October. Students are encouraged to bring food and drink as we sail during dinner time, and to have fun!
The students in the club package are also invited to come on the annual sail to the city on our yacht Helen the last week of summer. This is a 2 day trip that takes place on the 15th and 16th of september and is free for club package students.
drop in rate:
$80 for Monday evening ~ $60 for Saturday morning
This season we are adding an Ensign 22 , so qualified adult students can sail on their own. Students must pass a test to use the boat. Use of the boat is on an annual membership basis. Annual membership is $750 for the season May to October.
