- Rash Guards. These are long sleeve swim shirts that unlike sunscreen, do NOT wear off after 40 min. We are mandating this not only to protect the environment (the chemicals leach into the water) it saves your children from having to slater chemicals all over their skin (the bodies biggest organ) and will also save $$. Sunscreen is now $30 a tube. We sell our own rash guards for $30 for youth and $40 for adult sizes. Do the math. They also last for more than one season. Here is the link to our store. Company Store
- 35 to 45 litre water proof dry bag (lightinthebox.com). These are very important as they not only keep everything dry, but keep all your children's belongings organised in one place, you cant throw in a lunch box, water bottle, jackets, change of clothes all in one bag. We ask that you get Large 35-45 liter (the volume of the bag) for 2 reasons.1 Everything will fit in the bag. 2. You as adults can use the bag as well for outdoor activities, thus recycling the bag!!
- Type 3 life jacket, we provide these now as part of the cost of camp, but if your child has one they prefer then bring it as long as it says USCG certified on the label.
- Keen (type) water sandals. Must have protected toes area.(These are VERY important as they have a very beefy toe cap to protect your kids feet from under water rocks/objects, stay on VERY well, have a thick enough sole that water chestnuts cant puncture, and have excellent traction. No slip ons)
- Sun hat (Smiths hardware in Saugerties has very good straw hats for $7)
- Sunscreen (Badger sunscreen is the best, won't irritate skin and is all natural, can be purchased at most health food stores)
- Rain jacket or rain poncho (IMPORTANT TO KEEP YOUR CHILD WARM AND COMFORTABLE IF WE .... GET CAUGHT IN RAIN)
- Sunglasses (they can be cheap but must block 100% UVA and UVB sunlight)
- Lunch and snacks (Lunch boxes that are collapsible and insulated are preferred)
- 30-oz or larger insulated, metal water bottle. Get the Large size then you can use it as an adult.
